Chrigel Maurer, Jahrgang 1982, ist in Adelboden im Berner Oberland aufgewachsen und lebt heute in Frutigen. Mit 16 Jahren begann er mit dem Gleitschirmfliegen. Nach einer Lehre als Maurer ist er seit 2004 Profisportler und Testpilot.

Chrigel Maurer, born in 1982, grew up in Adelboden in the Bernese Oberland and now lives in Frutigen. He started paragliding at the age of 16. After an apprenticeship as a bricklayer, he has been a professional athlete and test pilot since 2004.

Schon früh machte er sich einen Namen. 2004 flog er vom Niesen bis nach Landeck, 323 Kilometer und damals Europarekord. Seither heisst er «der Adler von Adelboden».

He made a name for himself early on. In 2004 he flew from the Niesen to Landeck, 323 kilometres and a European record at the time. Ever since, he has been known as «the Eagle of Adelboden».

Am Red Bull X-Alps, dem bekanntesten Hike-&-Fly-Rennen der Welt, gewann er zwischen 2009 und 2023 alle acht Austragungen. Dazu kommen fünf Siege am X-Pyr, zuletzt 2026 in Rekordzeit.

At the Red Bull X-Alps, the best-known hike-and-fly race in the world, he won all eight editions between 2009 and 2023. He has also won the X-Pyr five times, most recently in 2026 in record time.

Die Idee entstand nach dem Red Bull X-Alps 2025. Chrigels Aufnahmen der Helmkamera zeigten, wie viele Geschichten ein solches Rennen erzählt, die nie jemand zu sehen bekommt, etwa Entscheidungen in der Luft, Momente des Zweifels oder die Freude, wenn er nach einer Landung auf sein Team trifft.

The idea came about after the Red Bull X-Alps 2025. Chrigel's helmet camera footage showed how many stories a race like this tells that nobody ever gets to see, such as decisions in the air, moments of doubt or the joy when he meets his team after a landing.

Daraus wuchs das Konzept, beide Perspektiven zu zeigen, denselben Moment bei Chrigel und bei seinem Team. Gefilmt wird möglichst viel mit Actioncams, direkt aus beiden Blickwinkeln. So nimmt der Film das Publikum mitten ins Rennen mit. Initiiert hat das Projekt Ramon Krebs.

This grew into the concept of showing both perspectives, the same moment for Chrigel and for his team. As much as possible is filmed with action cams, directly from both points of view. That is how the film takes the audience right into the middle of the race. The project was initiated by Ramon Krebs.

Den ersten Schritt machte das Team am X-Pyr 2026 mit dem Pilotfilm «Chasing the Flow». Er steht als eigener Film für sich und bildet zugleich das Fundament für den Hauptfilm. Am Red Bull X-Alps 2027 ist dasselbe Team wieder im Einsatz, ergänzt durch Pascal Schumacher.

The team took the first step at the X-Pyr 2026 with the pilot film «Chasing the Flow». It stands on its own as a film and at the same time forms the foundation for the main film. At the Red Bull X-Alps 2027 the same team is back in action, joined by Pascal Schumacher.

Getragen wird das Projekt vom Verein Outdoor Filmprojekte, den Chrigel Maurer und Ramon Krebs im September 2026 gegründet haben. Er ist Ansprechpartner für alle Partner, und ihre Beiträge fliessen in die Produktion.
